While Maher thought the cryptocurrency was a joke, his main problem was how bad he thought it was for the environment. According to the TV presenter, virtual resources turned power hungry and consumed a lot of energy which was bad for the environment. it consumed tons of energy, even more than Netflix, Apple, Facebook and Google combined. He said each exchange uses more electricity than a million Visa transactions and has the same carbon footprint as 85,000 hours of YouTube viewing. Unlike some energy-consuming projects or devices that use a lot of energy but serve a positive purpose, such as automobiles, the cryptocurrency does not do this, the comedian said. Bitcoin is created through mining, which requires enormous supercomputer power as it requires high computation to validate transactions. However, not all cryptocurrencies are mined as they are pre-mined cryptocurrencies such as XRP, Stellar, Cardano, EOS and NEO. Maher calls Elon Musk for crypto support Maher calls companies
