Thai state-owned Brooker Group invest $ 6.6 million in Bitcoin

Brooker Group is said to be the first publicly traded company in Thailand to have Bitcoin on its balance sheet. The company said it purchased 122,3158 bitcoins worth $ 6.6 million or 200 million baht. Brooker Group provides independent consulting services to private and public sector clients in Thailand and abroad. Prior to The Brooker Group announcement, few companies listed in Thailand were accepting cryptocurrencies as a form of payment such as Ananda Development and Major Cineplex Group. No one had reported that there were bitcoins or other cryptocurrencies on their balance sheet. SEC Secretary General Ruenvadee Suwanmongkol explained: The decisions of listed companies to invest in any asset class, including digital assets, are entirely the responsibility of the company's board of directors and investment decisions must be made prudently and responsibly. Brooker Group announced its cryptocurrency investments in a file with the Thai Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) earlier this week. The company said it purchased US $ 6,223,158 or 1,223,158 BTC worth 200 million baht from US listed crypto exchanges in the first quarter of this year through its Hong Kong subsidiary. The company also stated that the board of directors has approved an investment of a maximum of $ 48 million, or about 1.5 billion baht. The company says it can invest up to 50% in digital assets in the future.
