Global ESL Gaming company partnered with Coinbase

This year, partnerships with crypto exchanges continue to emerge in both traditional club and ball sports and esports. Coinbase’s big Exchange is certainly no stranger to esports and games in particular and is now looking to continue that investment by announcing its latest partnership – a partnership with ESL Gaming, the leading organizer of esports tournaments.

ESL Gaming: global exposure
The new partnership will give the Coinbase brand the opportunity to participate in “Major ESL events” by the end of the calendar year and throughout 2022.

Coinbase has recently focused on increasing global influence. In a recent blog post announcing the company’s recent quest to create a crypto app store, Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong specifically called for achieving the short-term goals of”internationally focused thinking.”

The announcement of the esports partnership with ESL will be headed for exactly that this week; the first event for the brand’s integration will be the Intel Extreme Masters (IEM) Cologne 2021. IEM tournaments take place around the world, including markets such as katowice and Beijing, among many other things hosted by ESL. Coinbase will support the biggest esports tournaments on the stage, including ESL Pro Tour matches in CS:GO, StarCraft II and Warcraft III.

Games and cryptography: natural harmony
While companies like BlockFi dip their fingers in esports waters, partnering with esports organizations or sponsoring live streams of rival players, Coinbase and FTX are arguably the two leading exchanges that have created a sensation in esports and games.

Last month, FTX partnered with leading esports organisation TSM as part of a naming rights deal that led to the organisation being renamed FTX TSM. However, this deal did not come without some bottlenecks, as the ftx would not be able to exercise naming rights at many key rival companies
