Ethereum Creator Vitalik Buterin Says Cardano Brings Interesting Ideas To Crypto

Ethereum founder Vitalik Buterin said that Cardano (ADA), the fifth largest cryptocurrency, is bringing new ideas to the crypto space. In an interview with artificial intelligence researcher Lex Fridman, Buterin states that the "things of interest" come from blockchain research firm IOHK (Input Output Hong Kong), which is associated with Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson. “It certainly has interesting ideas in it. I think Cardano has a slightly different approach than Ethereum because while Ethereum tends to better use heuristic arguments, they really emphasize having this great academic evidence for everything. Partly because [Ethereum] is trying to make it faster. But there is definitely something very interesting coming out of IOHK Research.” However, the creator of Ethereum argues that the in-depth and rigorous approach to academic research in Cardano's development is "overdone" as it focuses on fixing protocol flaws rather than external risks. “Actually, I'm a person who thinks rigidity is overrated. The reason I think deep rigor is overrated is why I think protocols fail. I think the number of failures outside the model is larger and more important than the number of failures inside the model.” In addition, Buterin says the end product of in-depth and rigorous academic research is not intended to be consumed by outsiders. "The other thing is that many academic approaches are ultimately optimized for other people in the academic system. And they're not really optimized for curious outsiders." According to the creator of Ethereum, competition between blockchains is healthy because the shortcomings of one provide a learning experience for the other.
