What is Dow Jones index?

The Dow Jones Industrial Average Index (DJIA), also known as “The Dow,” is a stock market index in the United States. It is made up of the thirty largest publicly traded companies on the NASDAQ and the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE). Since the stock index is made up of thirty companies, it has a high level of volatility, making it common among short-term traders and speculators. Traders often use it to place bets on the US and global economies, as the Dow’s companies, such as Apple and Microsoft, have global operations.
