Apple's latest job posting suggests new crypto targets

Apple is looking for a Business Development Manager "with more than 5 years of experience in alternative payment providers such as Digital Wallets, BNPL, Fast Payments, Cryptocurrency," according to a job offer posted on its website yesterday. The individual will be responsible for leading the company's Wallets, Payments and Trading team and will manage partnerships with alternative payment providers. "This position will be responsible for end-to-end business development, including selecting partners, negotiating and finalizing business deals, and launching new programs," the report said. The demand for experience with digital wallets and cryptocurrencies is a notable first for the tech giant. The move indicates that Apple will take full control of crypto products that interact with its technologies. Previously, third parties were helping with crypto payments with Apple Pay. Apple Pay is a popular payment tool from Cupertino-based company that allows users to make daily purchases by swiping their iPhone or Apple Watch. In February, Gemini Exchange announced support for Apple Pay, which allows users to purchase crypto through integration. BitPay, a crypto payment company, carried out a similar integration in the same month. Both announcements sparked new speculation that Apple may soon dive deeper into crypto. Apple did not immediately respond to Decrypt's request for comment.
